A decentralized data firm, Truflation, has announced a $500,000 bounty following a significant hack that occurred on September 25, resulting in a loss of $5 million.
Reward for Information
The company is offering a reward for the recovery of the stolen funds or for any information leading to the identification and conviction of the hacker.
$5 Million Hack
In a post dated September 26, Truflation disclosed that the attack targeted multiple blockchain networks, taking advantage of the project’s treasury multi-signature and personal wallets.
Despite this setback, Truflation emphasized that its ongoing projects, including the mainnet launch and the Truflation Stream Network, remain on track. However, the firm has temporarily suspended staking services and limited liquidity on its decentralized exchanges (DEXs).
Malware Incident During Token 2049
CEO Stefan Rust confirmed in a public statement that malware was likely introduced to a computer during the Token 2049 event in Singapore. He reassured stakeholders that customer funds are secure, and the company has sought assistance from law enforcement and industry experts to locate the attackers.
Bounty Deadline
Truflation issued an on-chain message to the hackers, stating they have until 08:00 UTC on September 28 to return the stolen assets.
If the deadline passes without any communication, the company plans to open the bounty to the public, offering the full $500,000 reward to anyone who can assist in identifying the hackers.
In its message, Truflation expressed appreciation for the support from its community, partners, and whitehat hackers. Rust also invited community members to participate in a live AMA session to address their concerns and provide updates on the company’s recovery efforts.
