Coinbase has introduced a new wallet web app, providing users with a centralized hub for all their onchain activities. This announcement was made during EthCC 7, an event hosted in Brussels, Belgium. The wallet is accessible on both desktop and mobile devices, aiming to revolutionize user interaction within the blockchain ecosystem.
Integrated User Experience
According to Coinbase, the wallet supports managing crypto assets, engaging with NFTs, and exploring decentralized finance (DeFi). The Coinbase Wallet web app offers an integrated user experience, allowing users to connect various wallets, including MetaMask, Phantom, and any other self-custodial wallet supported by Wallet Connect. This feature provides users with an aggregated view of all their assets.
Multi-Chain Token Trading
The new wallet enables users to trade over 2 million tokens across eight different chains, such as Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, BSC, Polygon, Avalanche, and Solana, from any wallet.
Simplifying User Onboarding
Chintan Turakhia, Coinbase’s senior director of engineering, emphasized the importance of simplifying user onboarding in the crypto industry. Speaking at EthCC 7, Turakhia highlighted the challenges faced by the industry and the necessity of making self-custody options more accessible.
“Our mission is to bring more users onchain, which is why we created Coinbase wallet to onboard users in five seconds flat,” Turakhia said.
The Role of Developers
Turakhia also underscored the critical role of developers in creating user-friendly platforms. He mentioned that the industry is moving towards an L2 dominant world, and developers should focus on building applications that are intuitive and easy to use, eliminating confusion caused by crypto jargon.
Stablecoins as a Key Trend
In an interview with Cryptonews, Turakhia pointed out that stablecoins are becoming increasingly important, especially in hyperinflationary countries like Argentina. He noted the strong use case for stablecoins in such economic environments.
MetaMask’s New Delegation Toolkit
During EthCC 7, MetaMask, a crypto wallet developed by Consensys, introduced the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit. This toolkit facilitates seamless user onboarding and includes a package of developer tools and smart contracts. MetaMask stated that these tools are designed to help dapps and protocols create new user experiences with granular levels of safety tailored to users’ needs.
