Introduction of a New Paradigm
Blockcast has unveiled a groundbreaking content delivery paradigm powered by a community-driven network built on the Solana blockchain. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and quality of digital content distribution.
Funding Support for Expansion
The company successfully raised $2.85 million in a funding round led by Lattice Fund, an early-stage cryptocurrency venture. Notably, Protocol Labs, Finality Capital Partners, AllianceDAO, Zee Prime Capital, RW3 Ventures, and prominent angel investors, including Solana’s founder Anatoly Yakovenko, also participated.
Addressing the Growing Demand for Content
Blockcast’s scalable content delivery networks are designed to meet the rising demand for high-bitrate live streams, software updates, and online gaming experiences. Mike Zajko, a partner at Lattice Fund, emphasized, “The internet’s current infrastructure struggles to meet the insatiable demand for high-fidelity content.” Thus, he noted that Blockcast’s innovative use of community-operated nodes presents a viable solution to the challenges of data distribution and consumption.
Utilizing Solana’s Ecosystem
According to a press release shared with Cryptonews, Blockcast plans to leverage Solana’s robust ecosystem of decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) projects to reshape the future of community-oriented networks. In particular, Solana’s advantages, including low transaction costs, high throughput speeds, and scalability, make it ideal for DePIN initiatives.
The Convergence of Broadcasting and Internet Streaming
Increasing Internet Traffic
Cisco’s Annual Internet Report for 2023 highlights a consistent annual increase of 24% in global internet traffic. Furthermore, live streaming now accounts for 17% of all traffic—an impressive 15-fold growth over the past five years. This trend underscores the urgent need for scalable internet infrastructure solutions.
Enhancing Content Delivery
Blockcast addresses this growing demand by merging traditional broadcasting technologies with internet streaming. This hybrid approach facilitates the delivery of high-bandwidth content, such as 4K live streams, to extensive audiences while minimizing data consumption, rebuffering, and latency issues.
Commitment to Quality and Security
Omar Ramadan, the CEO of Blockcast, remarked, “Significant effort was invested in meeting the security and service-level agreement (SLA) requirements that major streaming platforms require to deliver content efficiently.” Consequently, he expressed enthusiasm about enhancing community access to services.
Improving User Experience and Reducing Costs
Blockcast’s strategy not only improves the overall user experience but also alleviates congestion for internet service providers. Moreover, it significantly lowers content delivery costs for content owners, thus creating a more efficient ecosystem.
Leveraging Blockchain for Efficiency
By utilizing blockchain technology, Blockcast implements highly scalable traffic servers, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable internet ecosystem.
